The annual Las Cruces Veterans Day Parade will step off at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in the heart of downtown with the theme “Honoring America’s Future Military Leaders.”
The parade will stage at Main Street and Lohman Avenue, travel north on Main to the roundabout near City Hall, then continue south on Water Street back to the staging area.
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the reviewing stand on Main Street and Las Cruces Avenue, where Grand Marshals will receive medals. The ceremony will include a cannon firing to mark the start of the parade — a traditional salute using blanks, not an emergency. People with sensitive hearing should take note.

To prepare for the event, Main Street and nearby roads feeding into the parade route will begin closing at 6 a.m. Saturday.
Parking will be available at the El Paso Electric lot, the Doña Ana County Judicial Complex, Thomas Branigan Library, City Hall and several lots east of Main Street between Main and Church streets.
