Las Cruces to Reopen Some Hadley Sports Fields

The City of Las Cruces plans to reopen parts of the Hadley Sports Complex later this month following safety-related light pole removals while work continues at other locations.

City officials closed the Hadley Sports Complex — including Harty, Paz, Ron Galla and Maag fields — along with the Apodaca softball fields on March 10 to evaluate the condition of the light poles.

Ron Galla Field did not require pole removal and is expected to reopen for normal use on March 31. The poles at Maag Field have been removed, and the field is scheduled to reopen for daytime play the same day. Pole removal and cleanup are still underway at Paz and Harty fields, which are expected to reopen for daytime use in the coming weeks.

The Apodaca softball fields remain closed with no reopening date announced. Pole removal at that location began this week, according to the city.

Barrels will be placed over the sites of removed poles at fields open for daytime play, and the city is asking players and spectators to avoid those areas for safety.

The Parks & Recreation Department will work with local leagues to coordinate field use as schedules adjust. Officials said fields may close intermittently as poles are replaced, with work staggered to maintain field access when possible.

Other city fields — including those at Apodaca Park (baseball), Burn Lake (soccer), High Noon fields 1–5, Provencio Van Damme and the East Mesa Public Recreation Complex — were not affected and have remained open.

More updates will be provided by the city as work progresses. For more information, visit www.lascruces.gov.
